Research shows that more than one in ten children is affected by violent acts from their peers. These actions range from brutal beatings and humiliations to cyberbullying. The psychological consequences can follow the victims for decades. It is not the physical pain that causes these long-term effects, but the limiting beliefs that are formed in the distressing situation. Children from overly protective households often become victims of such violent experiences. This is particularly dramatic, as overprotection itself is considered a form of psychological violence against the child. This work is aimed at interested parties, parents, educators, and therapists; but especially at those individuals who were themselves victims of this phenomenon during their school years. It addresses the concept of violence and the extent of violence.
