German lessons are considered a key subject for intercultural and linguistic education. This volume describes how they must be designed to meet the demands of a migration society. The author outlines the concept of migration society as a framework for German lessons and develops a didactics of (post-)migrant literature. She critically examines intercultural or transcultural approaches in reference to cultural theories and cultural didactics, connecting them with anti-racist approaches to create a migration society concept for intercultural communication in German lessons. Linguistic education is at the center of German as a second language, as well as monolingual and bilingual educational offerings. This focuses on the handling of German from a migration society perspective, addressing migration-related multilingualism.
