Under the title theme "Learning Tasks," the Society for Subject Didactics (GFD) brings together selected contributions from the subject conference of 2013. Learning tasks represent a crucial building block for the realization of didactic goals in teaching and are therefore essential for the success of competence-oriented instruction. Nevertheless, their research, processing, and (further) development have received comparatively little attention in many subject didactics so far. Under the core concepts of "Contextuality" and "Complexity," the contributions inquire into the current state of subject didactic engagement with the topic, recent developments, perspectives, and challenges in the field of learning task development. Additionally, current research projects are presented that promise empirically grounded insights in the area of subject didactic learning task research. The volume brings together contributions.
