Perspectives on 'development' are as diverse as they are contested. Ranging from beliefs in progress and neoliberal experiments to critical analyses of global unequal development processes, and even radical rejections of 'development', the theoretical oeuvre of development is extensive. This volume presents a wide array of perspectives in the form of a systematic and multifaceted collection of texts, featuring classics as well as contemporary contributions from political-economic, feminist, and post-/de-colonial critiques. A central focus is placed on breaking with the Eurocentric narrative of the development theoretical canon: contributions from authors in the Global South appear here for the first time in German translation in some cases.
