People with severe autism spectrum disorders experience sensory impressions from the external world very differently than non-autistic individuals. They often feel isolated and overwhelmed, which frequently results in difficult or stress-related behaviors. This manual demonstrates how we can interact with individuals who do not speak or speak very little. Alternatively, they may be able to speak but lose this ability in moments of crisis. We can help them better understand the world. Mimetical interaction uses the body language of the person being supported to establish contact with them. Sensory interaction enhances the ability to receive, process, and interpret sensory information through specific activities. By using these methods, one can modify the environment of a person with severe autism spectrum disorders to meet their needs and reduce stress.
