A beginner is someone who knows nothing or almost nothing. A beginner is someone who realizes that they know nothing. And that is why they want to learn, they want to understand the words, grasp the meaning of the sentences, and follow the structure of the argument. I have written for these beginners. I have written in a simple and direct style, an unpretentious philosophy, without any nonsense, without intricacies, without academic dust, and without displays of any scientific acrobatics. The ideas presented here are very old. Surely there are new insights, because anyone who engages with philosophy and grapples with ideas, with the actual ideas, constantly discovers something new. When we pass on the wealth of ideas we have inherited from tradition, it becomes revitalized and continues to grow. This work has emerged from the great philosophical tradition.
