Masschelein and Simons unveil in their polemic the educational regime that causes deep discomfort in globalized knowledge societies. The authors aim less to hold a specific subject accountable for the crisis in the educational landscape and more to make visible the dominant modes of speech and thought that have dictated how education should be discussed in neoliberal societies. Against this backdrop, the authors attempt to develop an alternative way of speaking that can undermine the universally demanded entrepreneurial self and the dictate of active adulthood.
