Product details
In 1920, on the third anniversary of the October Revolution, the "Storming of the Winter Palace" was performed in Petrograd with 10,000 participants. The mass spectacle, directed by Nikolaj Evreinov, was a kind of false, deceptive reenactment. It was meant to commemorate the storming of the Winter Palace as the beginning of the revolution, which it itself theatrically and medially produced. The volume reconstructs the theatrical event with texts, photographs, and drawings, showing how the photo of the theatrical "storm" has become a historical document of the October Revolution, not only in the Soviet Union.
