Product details

If the psychoanalytic theory of the unconscious can be articulated, it is because there exists a certain identification with an unconscious mode of thinking outside the strictly clinical realm, and because the domain of artworks and literature is defined as the preferred field of action for this unconscious. My inquiry pertains to the anchoring of Freud's theory within this already existing configuration of unconscious thinking, in this idea of the relationship between thinking and non-thinking, which has predominantly formed and developed in the realm of what is called aesthetics. The aim is to understand Freud's aesthetic studies as indications of an inscription of analytical interpretive thinking within the horizon of aesthetic thinking.
