The concept of "communauté," or "community," which has been discussed in close engagement with Maurice Blanchot, has been a recurring theme not only in the work of Jean-Luc Nancy for decades. Following the diverse positions ranging from Derrida to Agamben, from Esposito to Zizek and Badiou, Nancy now turns once again to Blanchot's thinking, simultaneously completing a loop in the development of his own philosophy: emphatically highlighting that community cannot be solely based on a project (such as communism) or a retreat into intimacy and love, but rather must be situated within an ontology of "cum," or "being-with.".
