In ancient times, music was revered through myths and fables, and among the Indians, it found its first systematic development as a means to glorify worship in conjunction with poetry and dance. However, the harmonic elements were still so incomplete that no imaginative creations could arise from them that could be considered artistically significant, as far as research has been able to access them so far, even though the potential for such was clearly noticeable. Despite the invention of various instruments, the Indians remained fixed on their harmonic elements and incomplete consequences, thus holding only the claim in the history of music that the first beginnings of imperfect tonal systems, of which they themselves were not even in agreement, can be sought in their culture. The art of music held greater significance among the singers of the Vedas.
