This book first presents the outpatient nursing care in the Federal Republic of Germany. Taking historical circumstances into account, the current care situation is outlined up to the nursing care insurance reform of 2008. Due to changing utilization behavior, the increase in people with dementia-related illnesses, and a shift in private care potential, it can be assumed that outpatient care will be increasingly in demand in the future. In addition to this increased demand, outpatient care will also need to change qualitatively. These developments are documented, and in this context, the altered services of the nursing care insurance are mentioned. The second part of this book presents a form of care that has long been implemented in Bielefeld: the Bielefeld Model.
