Product details

Among the theories of C. G. Jung that have become most well-known is the concept of archetypes and its correlate, the notion of the collective unconscious. For Jung, the collective unconscious is a second psychic system within humans. Unlike the personal nature of our consciousness, it has a collective, rather than personal, character. Jung also refers to it as a general psychic foundation of a transpersonal nature that is not acquired but inherited. It consists of pre-existing forms, archetypes, which only become conscious secondarily. This volume contains works from the years 1933-55. The first three essays provide theoretical foundations. They are followed by publications that describe specific archetypes, an investigation into the relationship of archetypes to the individuation process, as well as works using material from the author's psychotherapeutic practice.
