Product details

The history of Soviet architecture in the 20th century is divided into three very distinct periods. The years 1917 to 1932 are considered the time of architectural avant-garde; 1955 marked the beginning of the era of modern architecture in its Soviet version. Between these two periods lies the period of Stalinist architecture, which this work addresses. Twice, in 1932 and 1955, there was a radical transformation of all artistic concepts in the USSR. After 1932, Soviet architects, with few exceptions, changed their views and style. They all became more or less classicists and sought to explore the artistic heritage of the past. In 1955, a new metamorphosis began. The previous classicists became proponents of modern architecture, urban development, and industrialization.
