Chinese healing methods such as Qigong are becoming increasingly popular in this country. However, there is a significant lack of scientific engagement with the subject. In this context, the work breaks new ground by subjecting a segment of Qigong to a comparative and critical examination. From the perspective of both sinological and physiotherapeutic qualifications, the author conducts a method comparison for the first time—comparing the breathing techniques of Qigong with those of Western physiotherapy. This provides a substantial contribution to the complex intersection of medicine, physiotherapy, and alternative treatment methods. New elements include the clarification of the term Qigong, a targeted examination of the execution level, as well as the systematization and classification of its execution variants.
