This topic outlines an aspect of Bavarian military history and German-Turkish relations that has so far been overlooked by research. Political history, military history, biographical, economic, and cultural history are woven together to provide a comprehensive representation of Bavarian-Turkish military relations between 1908 and 1918. The political developments between Munich, Berlin, and Constantinople are taken into account in this work, as well as the deployment of Bavarian military personnel in the Ottoman Empire, the impact and aftermath of this experience exemplified by Bavarian Turkish veterans, and the economic and cultural contacts that are linked to the military relations.
