Our society is becoming increasingly older. Residential care facilities are responsible for elderly and severely dependent individuals. These facilities are also increasingly tasked with providing end-of-life support. This book offers an overview of the situation regarding palliative care and end-of-life support in nursing homes in the city and district of Osnabrück. Until now, research has not taken into account the central importance of nursing staff in accompanying individuals at the end of life and the associated ethical decisions. The results of the empirical study reveal new perspectives and interesting developments in the field of residential elderly care. The surveyed nursing professionals not only assessed the palliative care situation in the facility but also shared their views on various forms of assisted dying for the first time.
