Product details
Going to Carus: This is how the gynecologist bids farewell to his two children as he sets off on his daily journey to the Carl Gustav Carus Medical Academy in Dresden during the early 1980s. The namesake of the institution, who passed away in Dresden in 1869, can be seen as a prototype of the dual talent that was still commonplace in Romanticism: a natural scientist, physician, and painter, as well as an author of studies in the humanities (including works on Goethe). Therefore, it is not surprising that the father encourages his two children to embark on expeditions into the independent art scene of Dresden and its surroundings - it is the Carus legacy that drives all three of them to attempt to reconnect with a shared humanity.
