Study paper from 2006 in the field of History Europe - Germany - World War I, Weimar Republic, grade: 2.0, University of Passau, Chair of Modern and Contemporary History, course: The Foreign Relations of Democratic Germany, Weimar Republic - Federal Republic of Germany, language: German.

Abstract: The First World War on the European continent ended with the signing of the armistice in Compiègne on November 11, 1918. With an estimated 10 million dead (including 723,000 from Great Britain) and over 20 million wounded (including 1,700,000 from GB), this was the "most fundamental catastrophe of the 20th century" to date. After four years of fighting, the Axis powers, led by the German Empire following an imperial power policy, were defeated by the European Entente under Great Britain and France in a brutally conducted war that had already been decided with the intervention of the USA in 1917. This paper begins with the peace treaties of Versailles, which officially ended the war, and particularly aims to examine British foreign policy towards Germany.
