Product details
The subject of this work is the first comprehensive presentation of the history of the Family Code (FGB) of the GDR. The work begins with a depiction of the Marriage Law of 1938/1946, discusses the individual phases of development, and concludes with the adoption of the law on December 20, 1965. Throughout, the historical development and general political context have been taken into account. At the end of each section, a comparison is made with the developments in family law in the Federal Republic of Germany. Key sources include the original documents from the former Ministry of Justice, which are archived in the Federal Archives in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Additionally, documents from the Supreme Court, the Department for State and Legal Affairs at the Central Committee of the SED, the People's Chamber, the DFD, and the FDGB were also analyzed.
