Product details
Lou Andreas-Salomé (1861-1937) first came into contact with psychoanalysis when she began a romantic relationship with the neurologist and Freudian Poul Bjerre during a trip to Sweden. This period also saw the writing of her essay "The Eroticism." In 1911, she accompanied Bjerre to the Congress of the International Psychoanalytical Association in Weimar, where she met Sigmund Freud, who was deeply impressed by Lou Andreas-Salomé. Freud trained the author to become a psychoanalyst and later referred to her as the "poetess of psychoanalysis" due to her more literary and poetic than strictly scientific approach.
