Die Flaschenpost und andere Geschichten aus der Weimarer Zeit
German, Bertolt Brecht, 2003Product details
During the Weimar Republic, Brecht was not only present with his plays and poetry, but he also drew public attention to himself as a storyteller through widely disseminated newspaper publications of short stories. Brecht's stories exhibit all the characteristics of modern narration, but they are presented in a more contradictory and playful (even ironic) manner than the prose of classical modernism (e.g., Rilke, Döblin, Musil). With these texts, Brecht introduced a new type of short story modeled after the Anglo-American style into modern German literature, which is worth rediscovering.
