This study examines the scientific and public debate surrounding media violence to investigate whether any of the disciplines of communication and media studies, media psychology, or media education can particularly shape the discussion. Does the public debate reflect the standard of scientific findings, or are other factors responsible for the presence of scholars and theories? Which discipline and which authors dominate in the specialized media that are particularly called upon to mediate difficult content between science and public debate? The aim of the investigation is to better compare and classify the available statements regarding the effects of media violence. Thus, the study also contributes to a better mutual understanding between science and the public.
