Just a few decades after Jesus, it was forgotten that Christianity is a spiritual path on which the image of God, which humans are at their deepest essence and which is threatened to be suffocated under the false, self-centered nature of humanity, is revived. Jesus himself exemplified this path. Anchored in divine forces, he manifested the true self, the Kingdom of God, to the extent that he recognized and thereby weakened the false self - the Pharisaical self-righteousness and the demonic forces of the pursuit of power, honor, and possessions. Jesus' disciples followed this path in the powers of their master. All miracles, events, and sayings in the Gospels are stations of a precisely structured inner development. Those who read the Gospel of Luke from this perspective experience a foretaste of the spir.
