Product details

On days with föhn winds, the Bavarian Alps appear to be within arm's reach from Munich. To reach them, we would need to cover at least 50 km through the pre-Alpine region. A train ride from Lindau on Lake Constance via Munich to Bad Reichenhall also showcases the scenic beauty of the Allgäu, Pfaffenwinkel, Werdenfelser Land with Germany's highest peak, the Zugspitze, as well as Tegernsee, Chiemgau, and Rupertigau along the Sulzach. Munich is still located on the gravel plain of the same name, featuring the unique gravel area of Pupplinger Au with steep banks along the Isar and Loisach near Wolfratshausen. There, we can still see uncompressed conglomerate rock and the hilly landscapes of older and younger moraine ridges that were left to us by the Ice Ages, while the Northern Limestone Alps are characterized by a broad band of folded, subalpine terrain.
