This book, based on a wide range of previously scarcely evaluated official source material, contemporary documentation, and individual accounts from newspapers, magazines, and calendars, as well as private archives and eyewitness testimonies, provides information about the political, cultural, and religious situation of Germans in Romania from the end of 1940 to 1944. The study focuses on the internal organization of the NSDAP of the German ethnic group in Romania, its infiltration and integration into other societal systems, the individuals who held the strategic NS leadership of the ethnic group in Romania, and the question of how they succeeded in bringing established institutions, associations, and clubs under their control.
