The so-called "Older Edda," which is the poetic version of Old Norse mythology as preserved in the Icelandic manuscript of the Codex Regius, is divided into songs of gods and heroes. This volume contains all the songs of the gods, which can be considered the main source of our knowledge about North Germanic mythology, featuring its many-headed families of gods and all the other beings of this mythical world: elves, Aesir, dwarves, seeresses, Valkyries, giants, and monsters.
