Perth, 1979. The price of gold is skyrocketing, and mining is pouring vast amounts of money into Western Australia. Frank Swann, a former police officer, is making his way as a private detective. He is tasked with investigating the suicide of a renowned geologist and gets caught up in a particularly brazen scam involving mining rights, with nearly everyone involved: the mafia, biker gangs working for anyone who pays well, big politics, and big business as well. At the same time, Swann continues his personal war against a completely corrupt police force. His opponents are far from being taken out of the game; instead, they keep regrouping in various coalitions. However, Swann's methods have become at least as robust as those of his enemies.
