Abstract: The term industrial revolution refers to the transformation process that led from the pre-modern society of the early modern period to the modern industrial society. The technical upheavals occurred now, compared to previous history, with greater acceleration and were associated with more profound transformations in a relatively shorter period than comparable earlier events in the history of technology. Such a process took place in large parts of Europe in the mid-19th century. This paper will focus on the conditions under which industrialization was able to spread across the European continent.
