Somewhere in the Pacific Ocean lies the Japanese island of Aburi, a place that seems to be from another time. Here, nature, the weather, and the sea dictate life - along with the strict traditions of the locals. Young Ryosuke, who has lost his job as a chef in a Tokyo restaurant, takes a job as a construction worker on the island. Not without ulterior motives: Hashi, a friend of his deceased father, lives on Aburi. But before he sets out to find him, he must first settle in. This is not easy: the work is hard, the locals regard him with skepticism, and only his friendship with two of his colleagues offers a glimmer of hope.
