Product details

Legal historical research in Freiburg has a long tradition. Otto Lenel's reconstructions of the Edictum perpetuum and classical legal writings have become an indispensable tool for Roman law studies worldwide and remain so to this day. Two of the most significant comprehensive works on legal history originated from Freiburg researchers: Franz Wieacker's "Privatrechtsgeschichte der Neuzeit" and Karl Kroeschell's three-volume "Deutsche Rechtsgeschichte." The Freiburg Institute for Legal History and Historical Comparative Law presents monographs, editions, essay collections, and conference volumes in the series "Freiburger Rechtsgeschichtliche Abhandlungen." This series was first published from 1931 to 1937 and was reestablished in 1978 by Karl Kroeschell, Detlef Liebs, and Joseph Georg Wolff. The "Abhandlungen" are open to both Freiburg researchers and guests.
