There is relatively little to be found in existing publications on social democracy regarding the social democratic organization of the Children's Friends in the Palatinate. Assigning falcon groups to the Children's Friends has been difficult without more detailed research, as the Children's Friends in the Palatinate were partially and intermittently no longer referred to by that name starting in 1930. I see the reasons for the subordinate significance of the Children's Friends in the literature as primarily due to this source situation, secondly due to the relatively limited spread and recognition of the Children's Friends in the Palatinate compared to the Workers' Youth, and thirdly due to the temporary significance of the youth phase in the biographies of many who, although they attended the groups as children or adolescents, left the group when they began vocational training, often joining the party or similar organizations.
