Product details

The bio-bibliographical handbook by Armin Mohler, published in five editions, has long become a classic and an indispensable tool for anyone studying the history of right-wing and conservative intellectual movements during the Weimar Republic. The significance of this book for scholarship is underscored by the fact that the term "Conservative Revolution," which Mohler coined for these movements, has now entered common usage. The Hamburg sociologist Stefan Breuer has referred to this conceptualization by Mohler as "one of the most successful creations of recent intellectual history." For the sixth edition, the standard work has been revised by one of the most profound experts on the subject, Karlheinz Weissmann, to whom Mohler entrusted the continuation of his work before his death. Without altering the previous style of the book, Weissmann has incorporated a wealth of new scientific insights into this new edition. Over 350 individuals are presented in short biographies with detailed bibliographies, including Carl Schmitt, Ernst Jünger, Oswald Spengler, Thomas Mann, Edgar Julius Jung, Ludwig Klages, Hans Zehrer and the Tat-Kreis, Othmar Spann, Hans Freier, Stefan George, Hermann Löns, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Gottfried Benn, Martin Niemöller, Ernst Niekisch, and others. For the first time, it includes a comprehensive section of images.
