The preservation of innovation and competitiveness requires new cross-border forms of collaboration in the context of intersystemic knowledge generation. Clusters are increasingly emerging as promising interorganizational forms of collective capital formation and value creation, positioning themselves as intermediaries between business, science, and politics. Britta Verena Pieper develops foundational concepts and outlines models for a socio-economic cluster theory. She expands the prevailing economically-geographically determined concept of clusters by adding a socio-cultural dimension and illustrates clusters as performative-aesthetic interaction media for cooperative learning and knowledge.
