Raku - the Japanese pottery that originated in the 16th century, was long associated only with the tea ceremony, where traditional small bowls were used. Today, Raku opens the door to entirely different realms: figures by Roger Capron, conceptual works by Camille Virot, or monumental pieces by Jean-Pierre Viot free this "fire art" from its limitations and infuse it with a vibrant breath of creativity. Here, a unique sensitive and technical approach to this ceramic art is offered: the depicted artworks allow everyone to understand the spirit of Raku - the beauty of the imperfect, the unfinished, and the irregular, and - furthermore - the encounter of East and West.
