It is about the desire between black and white, on all levels of relationships where stereotypes between races come into play. In the early 1980s in Montreal: Two unemployed black migrants are living together in a filthy one-room apartment on Rue St. Denis, right in the old town. One lies on the couch, listening to jazz all day, reading the Quran, and quoting Freud. The other writes on his only important possession, his Remington 22 - the nightly clattering of the keyboard naturally piques the curiosity of the white female students from a prestigious university. What longing for transcendence turns the education-hungry daughters of the bourgeoisie into regular guests in the abode of the have-nots? For the two friends, each one is a "Miz": Miz Literature, Miz Snob, Miz Sophisticated Lady, Miz Suicide... and from the attempt to make sense of it all - through questioning.
