According to the Rule of St. Benedict, candidates for monastic life should be guided by an experienced monk who is capable of winning people over and who takes care of them with great diligence. This spiritual guidance at the beginning of monastic life becomes increasingly challenging as the gap between everyday life before entering the monastery and life within the monastery widens. The assistance compiled here aims to illustrate ways in which a contemporary introduction to monastic values can be shaped.
