Hans-Otto Dill provides an overview of 500 years of the reception of Latin American literature in Germany, from the Renaissance through the Enlightenment to the 68 generation, in the post-war period and in divided Germany. Additionally, special cases such as Neruda, Amado, Asturias, Borges, Rulfo, and Carpentier, as well as Chilean exile literature in Germany, are examined. In the systematic section, the author discusses the position of Latin American literature in publishing, in school literature education, in the media's feuilleton, as well as the role of translators and the reception by German writers.
