The Logia source "Q," which served as a written source for the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, is a dual link: On one hand, the text can be situated between early Judaism and the beginnings of the Jesus movement - a document that addresses not so much "Christian" expectations as eschatological hopes for salvation among Jewish followers of Jesus. On the other hand, the text also serves as a bridge between the historical Jesus and later Christianity, providing insights into the early Jesus movement through a look at archaic forms of Christology and ecclesiology. In addition to questions regarding the reconstruction of the text, which has only been preserved indirectly, this volume particularly focuses on the context of its origin and the theology of the Logia source, thus offering a glimpse into the time when Jesus' followers were still Jews.
