The range of package tours for the most beautiful weeks of the year is almost overwhelmingly colorful. Equally diverse are the various problems that can arise in the execution of such a travel contract - and correspondingly difficult is their legal treatment. In 1979, the legislator created a special liability law specifically for package tours with paragraphs 651a ff BGB. The ongoing uncertainties and the complexity of this travel contract law have resulted in a rather unsatisfactory, inconsistent legal reality in practice. This often does not do justice to the legislator's intention to ensure a proper legal handling of package tours and ultimately effective consumer protection, particularly from the perspective of travelers in cases of travel defects.
