Product details
The Mishnah, the "oral Torah," is the foundation of the Talmud, which is structured according to the six orders of the Mishnah. Together with the Torah, it forms the basis of Jewish religious law (halakha). Therefore, we find in the Mishnah one of the most important keys to understanding Judaism. Written down around 200 CE by Rabbi Judah ha-Nasi, the oldest material included dates back to the time of the Second Temple. Thus, the Mishnah is also a rich historical source independent of Roman and Christian historiography for the time of the New Testament. It is the literary product of the beginning of a new era in which Judaism and Christianity separate. In the third order, Women - Seder Nashim, which is now appearing in German translation, five of the seven tractates deal with the status of women.
