Study paper from 2004 in the field of German Studies - Modern German Literature, grade: 1.7, University of Cologne (German Philology), course: Introduction to Modern German Literary Studies, 12 sources in the bibliography, language: German.

Abstract: In the uncertain moonlight, the world is no longer divided into light and dark; the contours dissolve, and things lose their objectivity, their opposition. Therefore, moonlight has become a favorite motif of a time that sought the expression of the inner self in the outer world. In German-language poetry, the motif of the moon is a remarkably frequently chosen theme. Particularly in the 18th century, especially in the second half, there is a multitude of poems where the authors engage in the depiction of the moon, moonlight, or moonlit nights.
