In this volume, I would like to further explain my contentious thesis that in a democratic society, taxes collected by coercion must be transformed into voluntarily given citizen donations for the common good - initially at a modest percentage, and later progressively at higher rates. I argue that only such a transformation could revive a society that has become frozen in the routines of mechanized solidarity and bring a new sense of community awareness into the self-referential functional systems.
