Illustrated with 45 black-and-white images. Even the Greeks and Romans were familiar with the production of apple wine, as was the case in Augusta Treverorum, today’s Trier. Pliny the Elder (23 to 79 AD) reports: "Wine is made from pears and all kinds of apples" and also mentions cider apples (mustea).
