The marixwissen volume "The Founders of Religions" contains the biographies of twelve significant religious founders. Starting with the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten and ending with Baha'u'llah, who died in 1892, it spans a wide arc through the history of religions. In addition to the biographies, the teachings, the social contexts in which each of the religious founders lived, and the fundamental principles of the religions that trace back to these figures are also explored. According to the varying spread of the individual religions, the figures are divided into two groups: the founders of world religions—Moses for Judaism, Buddha for Buddhism, Jesus for Christianity, and Muhammad for Islam—as well as eight other religious founders whose religions no longer exist today or are only regionally practiced—Akhenaten, Zoroaster, Confucius, Laozi, Mani, and Guru Nanak.
