The urban individual is described in contemporary literature as dynamic: work, social contacts, and leisure activities shape their daily life. At the same time, there is a significant number of traveling city dwellers who find relaxation and balance in natural landscapes. This seemingly natural need of city dwellers to be able to rest in natural areas can be traced back to antiquity. Through three contemporary novels, the author places this theme in a current context and views the individual, society, and politics as the three shaping actors of urban space, while nature is experienced as almost free from domination. The study also incorporates cultural-ecological concepts from Böhme and Foucault and does not shy away from a critique of the times, as city and countryside seem to be in a traditional relationship for humans.
