"To not know the Scriptures is to not know Christ," stated St. Jerome. And by "Scriptures," he meant the "Old Testament." This "Bible of Jesus" is indeed referenced in our liturgical readings. However, it is still interpreted far too rarely. Furthermore, it is often forgotten that the "Scriptures" were not only interpreted by Christians but had already been interpreted in Judaism for a much longer time. Christians can learn something from this. The present interpretations of the readings, developed by a project team from the Swiss Catholic Bible Society, aim not only to encourage preachers to once again focus on the Old Testament readings. They also provide valuable insights for anyone interested in private Bible study. With this volume, the series on the three reading years is complete.
