Product details
The work on the theme of 'time' in medieval literature is situated at the intersection of recent research approaches and concepts from various disciplines, aiming to address the diversity of discussions about 'time' in courtly romance. In four chapters, it highlights the notable semantic representation of time in Erec by Hartmann von Aue, the intertwining of normative legal time and 'subjective' haste in Hartmann's Iwein, the extraordinary variety of negotiating time in Parzival by Wolfram von Eschenbach, and finally the 'quoting' of time in Stricker's Daniel. In this way, it aims to contribute to a cultural studies understanding of the courtly romance with its specific discourse overlaps and interconnections, particularly in the area of temporal design.
