Of Love and Sea Sylt in the Year 1711: Jördis lives with her grandmother on Sylt, but she remains an outsider who has to fend for herself as a beach robber. Her ancestors come from Iceland, which is why she still clings to the old Norse beliefs. Her only companion is none other than the daughter of the pastor, who considers Jördis a witch. But then, both she and her friend Inge fall in love with the same man - and misfortune ensues. It is the time of whalers and beach robbers. Life is tough on Sylt - especially for women who have to make their way alone. Since the death of her parents, Jördis has found a meager home in her grandmother Etta's cottage in Rantum. The two survive by beach robbing and secretly predicting the future for the locals - with their rune oracle, as they adhere to the old Norse beliefs. They are met with suspicion from the local pastor.
