Product details
An anatomical textbook on the topographical myology of the horse, with particular emphasis on the locomotor function of the muscles. The musculature constitutes the largest tissue mass of the horse's body and is attached to the bones via the periosteum. It gives the horse's body its shape, protects organs and nerves, and facilitates various movements. In horses, more than 250 paired and some unpaired muscles can be distinguished. These muscles work by contracting, depending on their function, as extensors, flexors, rotators, tensing muscles, inward or outward pullers, and closers. The connection to the bones is always made through tendon fibers, even if it appears that they attach directly to the bone. The muscles in motion are elastically stretchable. Some muscles enclose body cavities or separate them from one another, such as the Z.
